Welcoming Megan Pettis, Esq. to Atlanta Holistic Family Law

Megan Pettis, Esq. Marietta divorce lawyer

Author : Jeanette Soltys

We are excited to announce that Megan Pettis, Esq. has joined our team. Megan brings a rare combination of law enforcement experience, a social work background, and a deep commitment to family advocacy, and we believe her unique perspective will be a tremendous asset to the families we serve across Marietta, Cobb County, and Metro Atlanta.

A Career Built on Protecting Families

Before turning her focus to family law, Megan spent more than a decade as a decorated police officer and detective in both New Orleans and Atlanta. Much of her investigative work centered on the kinds of high-stakes cases most people only read about: domestic violence, human trafficking, and other situations where families were in crisis.

Her record speaks for itself. She was named Officer of the Year in New Orleans in 2010, and she became the first female Valedictorian of the Atlanta Police Academy. Those are not small accomplishments, and they reflect the kind of preparation, discipline, and care she now brings to her legal work.

That hands-on experience with families in crisis gives Megan an instinct for what clients are actually going through, beyond the legal filings. She understands the dynamics, the fear, and the practical realities in a way few attorneys can claim.

Why This Matters for Our Clients

At Atlanta Holistic Family Law, we have always believed that family law deserves a more thoughtful, less combative approach. Our goal is to help clients move through difficult transitions with dignity, clarity, and a long-term plan, whether that involves divorce, child custody, or amicable divorce processes.

Megan fits this mission perfectly. She pairs the investigative instincts she developed in law enforcement with the empathy and emotional intelligence she honed through her social work training. The result is an attorney who can read a situation clearly, advocate firmly when needed, and help families transition into their next chapter with confidence rather than chaos.

“Megan’s background is incredibly unique and highly valuable in family law,” said the firm’s leadership. “Her firsthand experience dealing with complex family dynamics and domestic violence, combined with her compassionate approach, aligns perfectly with our holistic mission. We are thrilled to have her fighting for our clients.”

Megan’s Background

Originally from the Chicagoland area, Megan earned her Bachelor of Arts from Emory University and a Master’s in Social Work from Tulane University, where she focused her research on law enforcement responses to domestic violence. She went on to earn her Juris Doctor from Emory University School of Law.

During law school, she gained valuable experience interning with the Georgia Attorney General’s Office, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Georgia, and the DeKalb County District Attorney’s Office. She is an active member of the State Bar of Georgia and the Atlanta Bar Association.
